How geese fly together

Geese cross whole continents twice a year, and they do it as a team. The V they fly in is a working arrangement, and it maps neatly onto how good project teams work.

  • They share the lift

    Each goose flies a little behind and to the side of the one ahead, where the air spilling off its wingtip rises. In the V, every bird spends less energy than it would flying alone.

    In Goose: one shared plan. The Timeline shows every project and deadline, so nobody pulls against the rest of the team.

    Leading is the hardest position because there is no rising air to ride. Birds in a V swap places, so the work at the front is shared across the flock.

Security and privacy

Each person sees only what they are part of

Client work is confidential, so Goose decides who sees what on the server, before anything reaches a browser.

Rules enforced by the database

Visibility is checked by the database itself for every row of data. A person's browser never receives a project or task they are not allowed to see.

Data kept in the EU

Your workspace is stored in a data centre in Ireland.

Password or email link

Sign in with an email and password, or ask for a one-time link instead. New accounts confirm their email address first.

Tested on every change

Every update runs automatic checks that sign in as an admin, a member, a guest and an outsider and confirm what each one can see and change.

Separate workspaces

Each workspace is sealed off from every other. You can belong to several, with a different access level in each.

You choose who joins

Only admins invite people and set their access level. Removing someone hands their projects back to the admin.

  • Projects are visible to their owner, their members and the teams they are shared with. Joining a project gives you all of it: tasks and notebook.
  • Tasks are visible when you can see their project, or when you are the assignee, a collaborator or the person who created them.
  • Goals are visible to their owner and to anyone who can see a linked project or task.
  • Job titles are just labels. Access comes only from the level an admin sets.
FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I use Goose on my own?

Yes. Everyone who signs up gets their own workspace, where they are the admin and can plan goals, projects and tasks alone. Invite people whenever you are ready.

Can I be part of more than one workspace?

Yes. Your own workspace and every workspace you are invited to sit under one sign-in, and you switch between them. Your access level can differ in each.

Can my clients see their project?

Invite them as a Guest. They see the projects they are a member of, read-only, and nothing else.

What is the difference between a fixed-term and an ongoing project?

A fixed-term project has an end date, like a client study. An ongoing project keeps going, like training or publications. Both can support goals, and the Timeline draws them differently so you can tell them apart.

How is goal progress calculated?

From what is linked to the goal: the tasks of its projects, tasks linked to it directly, and its sub-goals. If nothing is linked yet, you set the progress yourself.

Where is my data stored?

In the European Union, in a data centre in Ireland. Who can see what is enforced by the database, not by the page in your browser.

Why is it called Goose?

Geese travel thousands of kilometres by flying together: they share the effort, take turns leading and keep in touch the whole way. That is the kind of teamwork Goose is built for.
